how is this shit balanced?
That first one at least - if you take level alone as the “skill” of each player (not always accurate, I think the system actually takes into account more than that, but):
Your team has the top player, 2nd, 4th, 5th top players in the lobby.
There’s 15 players in the lobby, so the top player is worth 15 points, worst player is 1 point.
So for your team that’s 15 + 14 + 12 + 11 + 10 = 62 points.
The opposing team has the 3rd top (or 2nd, not sure, they’re equal level at least) and the rest of the numbers after 6th top.
13 + 9 + 8 + 7 + 6 + 5 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 58 points.
Gives you an idea as to how it came to be. Not to say the system is perfect - it should probably be a little more wary of the number difference - but as a first attempt at implementing “same team parties” while maintaining balance - it’s actually not bad!
Stuff like this + the concept of “skill placement” in a lobby will only refine over time I imagine.
EDIT: apparently there’s a bug right now which does only make player power based on level only heh; that’ll get fixed
The problem with that system is that it cares not about nuance: best is 1 point more than 2nd best even if second best has 50% the kills of 1st
